Monique + Michael [Lindley-Scott House Wedding]
AZUSA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Most of my work comes from referrals. I think that holds true for many photographers. I've often compared the scenario to the "Kevin Bacon Game" -- you know, where you try to connect any given Hollywood actor or actress to a film starring Kevin Bacon. Similarly, with most of the events I photograph, more often than not I can connect the referral dots back to a core group of clients that first kick started my business. In fact, a few of them are hiding out in this bridal party!
Back in 2007, Monique and her cousins hired me to document their family reunion in San Diego. It was one of my first portrait sessions, and I'm forever thankful for the countless referrals I continue to trace back to that very session. So when Monique wrote to tell me she was getting married this year and asked if I'd be her photographer, I was excited to be on board. Not only was it a wonderful wedding, but it was the perfect chance to catch up with the gang, some of whom I hadn't see since that very first shoot years ago.
Monique and Michael prepped a few rooms apart at a cozy hotel, with a full mass ceremony at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Their reception was hosted at the Lindley-Scott House, a private historic venue located in Azusa, CA. Throughout the day, everyone was completely relaxed and always made me feel like family, which really made for an intimate, natural documentation of their day. When you're comfortable, it truly translates into lasting pictures.
Kudos to a great celebration! And I'm really looking forward to seeing this group again in the next couple of months, when yet another of them ties the knot!
