Yuan + Marcos [USC Engagement]
LOS ANGELES ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY
A whole lotta chemistry on this shoot! Hey, come on, it had to be said.
Actually, is it any wonder that the sciences and relationships are so often compared? Both are about the right ingredients, the proper timing, the attraction of similarities and opposites, wearing safety goggles now and then. And so when Yuan and Marcos approached me to photograph their engagement session on the USC campus -- where they originally met as students years ago -- it seemed super appropriate to weave their mutual field of study into the session. On top of that, as with any shoot, incorporating objects that have meaning to your relationship, or even those found while exploring your location of choosing, is just such an effective way of adding detail to the day's narrative. Yuan and Marcos went perfectly Heisenberg and showed up at the Tommy Trojan statue with a bag of nifty instruments borrowed from the lab. These were the real deal, and I couldn't wait to put them to use. After all, it's not every shoot a couple can wear blue latex gloves for the iconic hand-holding shot. It just might be my new fave.
A fun time was had shooting around the university that late Saturday afternoon. And something about that low January sun raking across the campus, with students coming to and fro on foot and bike, made the environment all the more cozy -- and intimate. No doubt lots of wonderful memories here at USC for you, Yuan and Marcos. I hope our day added one more to the collection. Thank you for your good humor, willingness to be playful, and well…. experiment. Yeah, couldn't resist.
