Boston Seaport Fan Pier Park Engagement Proposal
BOSTON ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER
Located in the South Boston Waterfront, the Seaport District is a top choice for a downtown engagement proposal. In particular, the stretch of Harborwalk running through Seaport’s Fan Pier Park is especially popular for engagement sessions, as it offers one of the best views of the Boston city skyline. Not only is the Seaport a beautiful location, but the harbor’s iconic backdrop of buildings is a reliable choice for any season when other outdoor favorites may have lost their leaves or gardens in the off-season.
Of course, no location is immune to New England’s temperamental weather, and the rain clouds decided to roll in right after this surprise proposal. I always keep an eye on the forecast prior to a shoot, and my trusty clear umbrellas were on-hand and put to work to keep this couple dry — well, mostly dry! The drizzle actually made for some fun moments and an aesthetic look we otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to enjoy. Thankfully, we were able to continue shooting, but the Institute of Contemporary Art and Rowes Wharf are two nearby backup options with architecture that can shelter us from the weather while still letting us shoot outdoors.
A few recommendations when proposing in the Seaport District. Arrive early, as parking is sometimes at a premium. Second, know again that the location is a popular spot for engagement proposals, so don’t be surprised if you happen to see another proposal taking place nearby. Prior to our session, I always ask that you share a few pictures of you and your significant other, that way I can keep a keen eye out for you and dismiss other couples strolling by or proposing near our agreed meeting spot. It happens!
Most of all, have fun with your surprise, and consider celebrating in the Seaport after your proposal. Davio’s Italian Steakhouse is only a few steps away from Fan Pier Park and makes for a memorable spot to toast your special moment!
