Ipswich Intimate Home Micro Wedding at Great Neck
BOSTON NEWBURYPORT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
You know you’re in for a genuinely good time when the bride and groom have a giant yellow smiley face painted on their shed! This friendly, grinning graphic truly telegraphed the tone for the afternoon — and absolutely spoke to the couple’s welcoming and fun-filled spirit — as they exchanged vows and danced in delight in the comfort of their home while joined by close family and friends.
The pandemic has changed the landscape of weddings considerably, with some couples choosing to celebrate on a reduced scale for the benefit of all invited. Depending on the size of the guest list, this new crop of weddings identifies as either a Micro Wedding, Mini Wedding, Minimony, Mini Ceremony, Intimate Home Wedding, or Elopement. These names imply smaller, but the heart and soul of these weddings is no less in size when compared to the contemporary celebrations we’ve come to know with 100+ guests at a venue + DJ + catering + etc. In a silver lining of sorts, the pandemic-inspired Micro Wedding has returned us to a time when weddings were simpler, closer to home, focused on the exchange of a couple’s shared commitment, and witnessed by a chosen few. And as a photographer, I love how closely I’m able to work with the couple at Mini Weddings, at a pace of our choosing verses a venue’s timeline. The wedding story at home is still told with many of the same narrative beats, including the signature touches we’ve come to expect from modern wedding photography, such as getting-ready images, decor details, and portraits.
A big thank you again to this wonderful couple for being such a pleasure to work with. It really was such a fun day.
