IPSWICH BOSTON ENGAGEMENT PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

Oh wow, this was fun! Usually, sessions are booked weeks out in advance, and you wake up with a mindset thinking you know what the day already holds for you. But this couple surprised me, with A. calling in the morning to see if there was availability to meet for an engagement session later that day. And so there we were, the three of us connecting for the first time later that afternoon and capturing moments together on the shores of Little Neck, Ipswich. How a day can change.

With the tide low and the sun skimming over the sprawling flats before us, we had a prime selection of spots to choose from, with very few others in sight given it was a weekday. Like most couples and families I work with, this was A. & T.’s first time taking part in a photo shoot, and I like to remind everyone that we’re all coming to this from the same place, with a shared sense of excitement and certainly a little anxiousness. We’re in this together, in that way. And that’s perfectly okay, expected, and normal! What’s most important is to just have fun, laugh, and enjoy this personal time together with your partner or family — alone time that can be harder and harder to come by these busy days. The special moments will happen, along with wonderful pictures, when we let expectations move aside and make way for the beautiful surprises that come our way.
