Plum Island Senior Picture Session

Senior picture season has begun, and one of the popular spots here on the North Shore continues to be Plum Island. When shooting on Plum Island, there’s several different locations to choose from, with two main areas providing easy access to scenic photography backdrops.

At the northern tip of the island is Plum Island Beach, where this particular senior portrait session was shot. This section of the island is considered Newburyport, offering some nice takes of not only the beach, but also the dune grass and views of the Merrimack River opening up into the Atlantic. Here, you’ll also find the quaint Plum Island Lighthouse, which makes for some nice architectural variety to the otherwise natural surroundings.

Another recommended spot on Plum Island is the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. For a small fee, you can park in an assortment of lots with beach access. Be sure to check the refuge website before visiting though because some of the beaches are sometimes closed or have limited access to protect nesting birds.
