Rockport Engagement Proposal

BOSTON ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER

It was a quiet, off-season afternoon in Rockport. Most of the shops on Bearskin Neck were closed, and those that were open had few visitors braving the chilly day. There was also that ocean wind whipping off the Atlantic up the street, making this typically busy stretch of Rockport unusually empty — and just perfect for pictures!

J. chose to surprise C. by proposing to her on the rock jetty crowning the end of the harbor peninsula. J. and I coordinated beforehand to talk about the light and which angle would likely work best given the time day he had hoped to propose. I brought along my telephoto 70-200mm lens, so I could keep a discreet distance from J. & C. while pretending to take pictures of the boats in the harbor up until the big moment arrived. C. was surprised for sure, and despite the frigid temperatures, it was clear there was no place she‘d rather be in that moment.

For surprise proposals, I offer either a thirty or sixty-minute session. Both are great for capturing the proposal itself, followed by a collection of portraits. With the longer session, there’s more time to explore our location, which is something to consider if the location you’re using was reserved for a longer window of time or out of your way. Otherwise, a thirty-minute session followed by an engagement session in the future is a popular option for most proposals.

If you are looking for a Boston proposal photographer or engagement photographer, please do get in touch. And if you are a fan of true New England charm and wish to propose to your significant other in such a setting, then look no further than the quaint architecture, textures, and colors of Rockport. Thanks again, J. & C., for inviting me to be a part of your big day!
